Book Your Dog’s Stay

New to DogJoy? Start with a quick Tryout Day so we can place your dog in the right boarding program.

Boarding Built Around Behavior, Not Just a Bed

A safe kennel, a full food bowl, and a dog waiting by the door when you get back: for a lot of boarding facilities, that’s the whole job.

We hold ourselves to a wider standard. From your first night away until the drive home to Bastrop, DogJoy pays attention to how your dog carries themselves, relates to others, and feels every step of the way.

So every day of the stay mixes guided playtime, enrichment that takes real effort to solve, and consistent manners work, giving your dog the chance to:

  • Spend physical and mental energy in the same day
  • Stay tuned in to people when things around them get busy
  • Practice polite behavior in the company of other dogs
  • Remain calm and content for the length of your trip

It isn’t a vacation from good habits; it’s a few days of reinforcing the dog you’ve been working toward at home.

Matching Each Dog to the Right Boarding Program

No two dogs handle a night away the same way. Before your dog checks in, we look at who they are, including temperament, comfort level around other dogs, and any special requirements, and shape the stay to fit.

Hotel Boarding (Non-Social Dogs)

Please Read First: Hotel Boarding is reserved primarily for dogs we’ve already gotten to know, most often current DogJoy training clients whose dogs our team has worked with and evaluated. We don’t offer it as a first stay for reactive or non-social dogs we haven’t met, which means a new dog who can’t safely join group activities may not be eligible for boarding.

SPACE IS LIMITED

Nightly Rate: $58/night

Your Dog Gets: A private room connected to its own patio and mini-yard. Optional enrichment add-ons come in three versions (Mind, Body, or Mind + Body), and every one is adapted to your dog’s particular limitations, such as safety around people, resource guarding, fence-line reactivity, or physical ability.

A Great Fit For: Dogs who’d rather skip group play, whether they prefer human company over canine company, need a calmer environment, or just aren’t suited to a social setting.

Daily Highlights:

  • A private space with enrichment woven into it
  • One-on-one time with someone from our team
  • Walks, puzzle toys, and problem-solving games instead of playgroups

Worth Knowing: Picking Hotel Boarding never means your dog is shut away by themselves. They receive the same structured care, purposely delivered at a gentler pace.

What You’ll Notice: A low-stress, calmer visit tailored to your individual dog.

From Morning Play to Lights-Out: A Boarding Day at DogJoy

Structure at DogJoy isn’t limited to playtime. It shapes the whole day, start to finish.

The daily rhythm:

  • Staff-led playgroups for dogs who enjoy company
  • Enrichment and mental exercise mixed in throughout the day
  • Built-in periods for rest and recovery
  • A quiet night’s sleep tucked into their own suite

No dog here is left on their own to fill empty hours. Our team leads each one through a day with a purpose, and real downtime is part of the plan so dogs can recharge.

Most days swing back and forth between time in the yards and enrichment work. Around midday, dogs nap in their own rooms with dimmed lights, calming music, and a diffuser releasing pet-safe essential oils. The busier parts of the day include outdoor time, playgroups for the dogs who enjoy them, and lots of personal attention from staff. After the final outdoor session of the evening, everything quiets down: the lights go low, the soft music continues, and the diffusers keep running so each dog can unwind and sleep deeply.

Our goal is the same every day: sending home a dog who’s comfortably tired, with plenty of exercise and rest behind them, and relaxed instead of overstimulated.

A Room of Their Own for Truly Restful Nights

Every boarding guest is assigned a suite of their own, with a door leading out to a personal patio and mini-yard.

During rest periods:

  • Dimmed lights
  • Calming music playing softly
  • Pet-safe essential oils diffusing during naps and overnight
  • Patio doors closed for security and to keep the heating or A/C inside

Dogs can choose between lounging indoors or heading out to their own patio. That small bit of freedom adds comfort and a sense of control, even during time away from home.

What you won’t find here:

  • Corridors echoing with nonstop barking
  • Long stretches confined to a kennel
  • Stark, sterile runs

In their place is a relaxed, home-style environment with built-in structure, designed from the start to keep stress low.

How Your Dog Benefits from a Guided Stay

Guidance is what makes DogJoy different. Instead of just keeping watch, our team takes an active role in shaping your dog’s behavior.

Throughout the visit, clear expectations, daily reinforcement, and structured play stack on top of one another, helping dogs learn to:

  • Stay focused on their people even with distractions nearby
  • Respond consistently, not just occasionally
  • Approach new environments with more confidence

We hear it from owners again and again: the dog who heads home is calmer, steadier, and a lot simpler to share a home with.

What to Bring for Boarding

Food

If your dog eats raw, or any other special diet, please package their food in individual pre-measured servings labeled with your dog’s name. Please DO NOT bring us your dog’s entire bag of dog food or your large plastic food container. We do not have the room to store it all. Please re-bag what your dog will need, plus an extra day, in large ziplocks or put in single serving bags labeled with your dog’s name. DO NOT bring any bowls or food dishes. We provide stainless steel bowls for your dog’s visit. Exceptions are made for slow-feed bowls (please label with your dog’s name).

Medications

If medication needs to be given, it must be in the original bottle, labeled with what the medication is and the dosage required, and have your dog’s first and last name written on the bottle. We require this information for identification to ensure the safety and well-being of every dog in our care when prescription medications are on the premises. Please include a measuring device, if applicable. If you are sending supplements or over the counter medications with your dog, you must separate your dog’s food into individual servings and include the supplement(s)/OTC meds in each bag, otherwise there will be a fee for each administration. Label each bag with your dog’s name and whether it is for the AM or PM feeding, if different. If you need us to administer OTC meds separately, please bring them in the original bottle for ease of identification. There is a medication administration fee for any medication, including OTC meds.

Toys & Comfort Items

We can provide a comfy elevated bed at your request and elevated beds are included in all of our boarding add-on packages. We can provide blankets to dogs that do not chew bedding, but a blanket, towel, or t-shirt that smells like home is a great comfort! We are unable to accept dog beds that can not fit in a small washing machine without being taken apart. For safety reasons, we DO NOT accept the following items: Rawhide, rope toys, or tennis balls.

If you have questions about what to bring, our team will guide you before your stay!

From the Lost Pines to Pflugerville: Bastrop Families and DogJoy

Life with a dog in Bastrop tends to happen outdoors. Owners near downtown head over to the Bastrop Bark Park on Grady Tuck Lane, where small and large dogs each get their own play area and a dog shower station waits for muddy paws. Others follow the June Hill Pape Riverwalk Trail along the Colorado River between Fisherman’s Park and Ferry Park, paddle the river with a pup riding along in the kayak, or take leashed hikes beneath the loblolly pines at Bastrop State Park. Out in wooded neighborhoods like Tahitian Village and Pine Forest, plenty of dogs spend their days roaming big, tree-filled lots, while families in The Colony and Hunters Crossing fit dog walks in around commutes toward Austin.

That freedom is wonderful, but it doesn’t always prepare a dog for a few nights away from home. Bastrop owners book with DogJoy in Pflugerville because our boarding keeps that active lifestyle going while adding the structure many dogs need. Playful, dog-friendly pups usually take to Stay & Play right away, and dogs who are used to having the backyard to themselves may be a better fit for the quieter pace of Hotel Boarding (eligibility applies). When a Central Texas summer makes even the shade under the pines feel steamy, every guest has a climate-controlled private room, and the Splash Park Package gives water lovers a way to cool off. Wherever in Bastrop County you call home, your dog returns to it rested, well-mannered, and well cared for.

How to Get to DogJoy from Bastrop, TX

Getting from Bastrop to DogJoy keeps you clear of Austin traffic, with open country highway for nearly the whole trip. From downtown Bastrop, start out toward Hill Street, about half a mile, and pick up State Highway 95 North. SH-95 makes up the longest leg of the drive, carrying you north through Elgin to the small town of Coupland in roughly 31 minutes and 27.4 miles. In Coupland, continue onto FM 1660 North and follow it for about 11.7 miles (17 minutes) into Travis County, where you’ll find DogJoy at 20818 Martin Ln, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Plan on about 49 minutes and just under 40 miles door to door, with no toll roads along the way.
